The Buccaneers are in Chicago today looking to put together a winning streak for just the 2nd time this season. While it is the return of Lovie Smith and Josh McCown to Chicago, there are many more factors that will lead to the final outcome of this game.
The Bears have had their struggles this season, but the Buccaneers have usually been the right prescription for teams who might be struggling. While the Bucs have been mostly injury-free compared to other teams this season, Lavonte David is a game-time decision and could very well be out today.
Offensively for the Bears, a lot of criticism has come down on Jay Cutler this season, but after a strong performance last weekend against the Vikings, Cutler could be in line for another huge day today against the Bucs defense. While the final statistics looked decent against the Redskins last Sunday, the fact is that RGIII is playing horrible football and missed wide open receivers all day against a weak Bucs secondary. Even with Alterraun Verner back today, Jay Cutler should find today's matchup much easier for him than in previous weeks.
I expect the Bears to get all of their weapons involved today. Both Brandon Marshal and Alshon Jeffery should put up nice numbers, while TE Martellus Bennett could be a sneaky good weapon with Lavonte David potentially being out today. Let's also not forget about the ability of Matt Forte in both the run and pass game either.
Offensively for the Bucs, it could be all about Josh McCown. McCown's last two games have been pretty goodfor any Bucs quarterback. The Bucs find themselves with the same size advantage at WR that the Bears do. Establishing any sort of run game could be key, and it has been reported that Doug Martin received a majority of the starting reps in practice this week.
Prediction: Bears Win 31-20
