With the Bucs now 2-10 on the season, many fans are already looking forward to the 2015 NFL Draft. Make no mistake, this has a chance to be a game changing draft for the Bucs moving forward. They'll have an opportunity to draft elite talent, especially in the first two rounds. Most people think the Bucs should take a quarterback with their first round pick. I'm one of them. With that being said, it's always nice to get a national perspective regarding the Bucs potential 2015 first round pick.
Rob Rang, from NFLDraftScout.Com, is the latest national writer to weigh in on who the Bucs should take in the first round. As you can imagine, Rang thinks the Bucs need a quarterback. His guy is Marcus Mariota. In his mock draft and with the Bucs having the second overall pick, Rang says the Bucs need a playmaker at that position.
"To compete in today's NFL, offenses must score points and few clubs are worse than in this department than the Bucs, who have surpassed 17 points in just three of 12 games this season. For the franchise to take the next step, improving at quarterback is critical," Rang said. "Mariota faces legitimate questions about how he'll fare against tighter windows in the NFL but he shows good awareness in the pocket, a live arm and, of course, great mobility. Mariota's speed and the great size of Tampa's pass-catchers would put an awful lot of stress on opposing defenses."
Many more will weigh in on the draft as we get closer to that exciting weekend in NFL. For Bucs fans, the draft can't come soon enough. For the Bucs, a quarterback of the future can't come soon enough either.
