Bucs Add TE Roberg, Reach Settlement With Gruber

August 29 – The Buccaneers made a pair of roster moves on Wednesday by reaching an injury settlement with undrafted rookie T Brian Gruber and then claiming rookie TE Mike Roberg from the Carolina Panthers.

Two days after releasing one of their seventh round draft choices and former North Carolina Tar Heel TE Dauntae' Finger, the Buccaneers claimed rookie TE Mike Roberg off of waivers from the Carolina Panthers.

Roberg (6-4, 263), like Finger, was a seventh round draft choice of Carolina in April's draft. Roberg was a three-year starter at Idaho, where he caught 64 passes for 722 yards and 10 touchdowns.

By adding Roberg to their roster, the Buccaneers had to make sure they kept a maximum of 71 players and did so by reaching an injury settlement with undrafted rookie T Brian Gruber. A right knee sprain had plagued Gruber since suffering the injury in training camp.
