Jameis Winston Has Football Intelligence

Now that Jameis Winston has declared for the NFL Draft, the debate will rage on over the next few months as to what the Buccaneers should do with the first overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft. We all know the background that must be done off the field, but on the field, it appears Jameis Winston passes every test.

Now that Jameis Winston has declared for the NFL Draft, the debate will rage on over the next few months as to what the Buccaneers should do with the first overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft. We all know the background that must be done off the field, but on the field, it appears Jameis Winston passes every test.

Appearing on the Colin Cowherd show on ESPN Radio on Thursday, Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly raved about Jameis Winston.

"I think one of the things we've lost in college football is that we get caught up in all these measurables," Kelly said. "One of the huge measurables for me is football intelligence. He [Winston] knows the game. He's very smart."

Kelly's club lost to Jameis Winston and Florida State earlier in the 2014 season 31-27 after being out-scored 21-10 in the 2nd half of the game.

"If I'm making that first pick, and I need a quarterback, I'm taking Winston because he's got football intelligence," Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said.

Jameis Winston seems to be passing most tests by evaluators with more tape that is being studied. If his background tests come back successful, the Bucs might just do what Brian Kelly suggests and select Jameis Winston with the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
