Brooks: "He's What They Need Right Now"

I know there are a lot of Bucs fans that are so scared of Jameis Winston that they are willing to denounce their allegiance to the Buccaneers if they select him with the first overall pick. Perhaps those same fans will change their opinion after what one of the most popular Buccaneers of all time had to say about Winston.

Derrick Brooks joined Bleacher Report Radio on radio row at the Super Bowl and went into detail on the Bucs and Jameis Winston.

"I think he's what they need right now," Derrick Brooks said on Bleacher Report Radio when asked about Jameis Winston and the Bucs. "His development, where he's at right now, is intriguing. It would be hard pressed for me to think the Bucs are not going to draft him with the number one pick."

"What this young man has done thus far, I think he deserves to be picked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers number one overall."

Brooks says that he has gotten to know Jameis Winston quite well over the past two and a half years, and that we will all be "quite impressed."

"His work ethic in how he bleeds the cause undeniably," Brooks said when asked to share something about Jameis Winston that most people do not know about. "He gives it up for his team. He works his butt off behind the scenes and that's what he really wants to rise to the occasion for his guys."

"He's a 'team' guy first, not a 'me' guy," Brooks said. "He pours himself into his teammates."

Recently, ESPN's Chris Mortenson and Adam Schefter have stated that the stars were aligning for the Bucs to select Marcus Mariota because of the coaching staff they've put together. It's pretty clear that others still believe that the Bucs will take Jameis Winston because he's the better player on the field.

"I would say, 'pick Jameis Winston,'" Derrick Books said on PFT Live. "I think this kid has it."

I hope you're ready to debate this for three more months!
