Who Stays, Goes for Bucs at Wide Receiver?

With about a month until free agency gets underway, now is the perfect time to analyze the Bucs roster. Over the next month, we will go position by position on the Bucs current roster and tell you who we think stays and who we think goes for the 2015 season.

With about a month until free agency gets underway, now is the perfect time to analyze the Bucs roster. Over the next month, we will go position by position on the Bucs current roster and tell you who we think stays and who we think goes for the 2015 season.

Today we focus on the Wide Receivers:

Mike Evans: Evans was one of the best rookie receivers in the NFL in 2014, and that was with awful play from his quarterbacks. He has potential to become an elite receiver in the NFL and he could reach that potential with their new quarterback throwing him the ball.

Commish's Call: STAYS

Vincent Jackson: The Bucs could save big money by releasing or trading Jackson, but doing so would open up a big hole on an offense that doesn't need any more holes. Jackson has become a leader on and off the field. I think the Bucs could either keep Jackson at his current salary or restructure his contract to save some money.

Commish's Call: STAYS

Louis Murphy: Murphy just received a contract extension, and I still believe he could be very valuable to any offense.

Commish's Call: STAYS

Robert Herron: When Herron caught passes in practice or in games, it was more of a surprise than expected. We'll see how he progresses through this off-season, but if the Bucs look to grab another receiver in this years draft, Herron is likely a goner.

Commish's Call: GONE

Russell Shepard: Shepard does not add much on offense, but has been a special teams ace for the Bucs the last couple of years.

Commish's Call: STAYS

Solomon Patton: Patton never really wowed as a returner for the Bucs during his rookie season. Return men do not have near the value as they once did. If the Bucs bring in another receiver this off-season, my guess if that receiver will also be able to return kicks and punts.

Commish's Call: GONE

Tavarres King: King got some playing time at the end of last season and showed some brief flashes. I think that's enough to keep him around.

Commish's Call: STAYS

Chandler Jones: Every roster has a few roster spots/players that are interchangeable. I think Jones is one of those players.

Commish's Call: GONE
