Jameis and Mariota get Glazers Approval

Joel Glazer speaks at the owners' meetings in Arizona and gives approval for both Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota.

The biggest question relating to the Buccaneers potential selection with the 1st overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft has been whom the Glazers would ultimately approve of. On Tuesday, Joel Glazer publicly approved of both of the top quarterbacks in this year's draft.

While at the Owners' meetings in Arizona, Joel Glazer spoke to the Tampa Bay Times about a myriad of topics relating to the Buccaneers, but most importantly, his thoughts on Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota.

“With anybody we’re looking to draft, we do an extensive amount of work on their background, history and all that,” Glazer told the local newspaper. “We spent time with Jameis and Marcus and went into everything into their background. After everything we’ve done and where we’re at right now, we’re comfortable where Jameis is at, we’re comfortable with Marcus or whoever else it could be.”

Both Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota have made recent much-publicized visits to One Buc Place.

"Absolutely, this is critical, one of the most important decisions we may make in a long time," Glazer said to the Times. "But fundamentally, we believe in letting Lovie and Jason do all their ground work, and their staffs, come to their conclusions, discuss it with us, talk about their reasoning and as long as it makes sense, we're supportive. But at the end of the day, whatever decision we make, I see us all being on the same page, agreeing and moving forward. "No question, having the first pick in the draft is a huge decision for the organization and a huge opportunity for the Buccaneers … doing everything we can to get that choice right is going to be critical."

I know the Bucs keep leaving the door slightly cracked to take a position other than quarterback, but if they do, they'll continue to be a complete joke around the NFL. For a team desperate for a true franchise quarterback, an identity, and relevance to even be considering a position other than quarterback with the 1st overall pick this year is asinine.

Here's to hoping the Bucs are phrasing their quotes in a way to just be polite to the other prospects in this draft, and not truly thinking of doing the unthinkable and passing on a franchise changing quarterback. Please, from Bucs fans everywhere, give us a quarterback!
