The Buccaneers traded back into the 2nd round to continue building their offensive line. The Bucs selected offensive lineman Ali Marpet out of Hobart college.
To move back into the 2nd round., the Buccaneers gave the Colts their 3rd round pick and swapped 4th round picks with the Colts.
Marpet comes from division 3 football, but his talent is NFL worthy. He dominated aty the Senior Bowl and the combine. He's big, strong, athletic, and loves the game of football. Marpet can play any position along the offensive line.
AnalysisMarpet was perhaps the media darling of the NFL Combine with his performance at Lucas Oil Stadium. Then again, fans love to root for the underdog. That’s Marpet, a small school standout from little known Hobart and William Smith College. He was a unanimous D-3 All-American as a tackle. This past season he graded out at 92.62%, recorded 109 knockdown blocks, and 20 touchdown resulting blocks. Marpet projects inside as a guard or center in the NFL. He’s quick, athletic and can really run (4.98 forty) at 6-foot-3, 307-pounds. Against some of the best players in college football Marpet performed very well at the Senior Bowl in January.
