One of Bobby Bowden's former players, and one of the smartest players he has ever coached, is now disagreeing with Bowden's comments about Jameis Winston.
Myron Rolle was a Rhodes Scholar while playing for Bobby Bowden at Florida State. Rolle first became acquainted with Jameis Winston while Winston was still in high school.
Bowden's recent comments about Winston occured on the Paul Finebaum radio show.
"Well, I think it's a consensus among Florid State fans, and boosters that he was an embarrassment in a lot of ways to the university," Bowden said.
Via the Washington Times, Rolle disagreed with his former coach.
“I didn’t agree that Jameis was an embarrassment to FSU,” Rolle said. “Anybody who meets him one-on-one, they’ll realize just how good of a young man this is. How solid he is.”
Those are strong words from one of the more respected former Florida State football players out there. I have a gut feeling that Winston's dumb days are behind him for good. It's up to Winston to make sure that happens.Subscribe to The Commish Online Podcast on iTunes!
