There was some sloppiness during Day 2 of Bucs’ training camp Sunday afternoon. While it was not anything to be too concerned about, it still was something worth noting. Still, there were plenty of things fans were able to smile at. Rookie wide receiver Kenny Bell was one of them.
Bell made catch after catch. Passes that seemed to be a bit high, he brought them down. Quarterback Jameis Winston threw a ball way out to Bell’s left side near the sideline but Bell dove and made the grab, making it look as routine as can be.
Yes it is training camp, but when players have a day like Bell had, they have every right to feel optimistic.
“When you have a good day you get some confidence going,” Bell said after practice. “But like I’ve said this entire process, this is my first training camp. It’s my second day, really, practicing at camp in the NFL so I would never be boastful about it. I’ve got to go back tonight – I made mistakes, I’ve got to go prepare harder for tomorrow.”
Bell’s right, he did make mistakes. He had a drop here and there but many others did too. Heck, even Mike Evans could not bring in a beautifully thrown pass from Winston in the end zone.
But Bell will have lots of opportunities to improve. More importantly, there is a good amount of time. Even so, Bell will become a fan favorite quickly. Bet on that.Subscribe to The Commish Online Podcast on iTunes!
