There were plenty of Bucs fans happy to know they won't have to see Leonard Johnson being beat in 2015. Now the guessing game begins as to whom will actually replace him on the field.
On Thursday night, Jason Licht announced that the team had signed former Bears cornerback Tim Jennings. Jennings joins a pretty deep cornerback group for the Bucs. With Alterraun Verner and Johnthan Banks assumed to be starters, perhaps the Bucs view Jennings as their potential nickel corner. Currently, it looked as if Sterling Moore would be the Bucs nickel corner heading into the season, but the signing of Jennings changed things.
It will be interesting to see what the Bucs do with their cornerback group during final cuts. Verner, Banks, and Jennings are all locks to make the team. The assumption would be that Sterling Moore and Mike Jenkins would round out the group, but if the Bucs decide to keep a young corner like Isaiah Frey, one of the two aforementioned names may be on the way out.
NFL teams must be down to their final 53-man roster by 4:00 on Saturday.
