The Bucs clearly had their ups and downs during the preseason. The home win against the Bengals showed us what this team is capable of. Unfortunately, the next game against the Browns reminded us why they went 2-14 last season.
The Bucs rookie class showed enough flashes to believe they could be one of the more important rookie classes for the Bucs in a long time. There will be naysayers that say Winston struggled too much, but what do you actually expect from a rookie quarterback. I sway the other way, and say that Winston showed the flashes that he will become the franchise quarterback the Bucs need him to be. I also believe that both offensive linemen, Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet, will be part of the solution with the Bucs offensive line.
Kwon Alexander might be the best thing to come out of the preseason for the Bucs. He is the Bucs starting middle linebacker and proved to be a true impact player on the Bucs defense. Alexander has truly been a bright spot for the Bucs this preseason.
We also learned that the Bucs issues in 2014 will probably still haunt them in 2015. The offensive line looks as if it is still a work in progress, and the lack of a consistent pass rush could kill the defense.
We'll get a better understanding of how the Bucs will be in 2015 as they kickoff for real this Sunday against the Titans.
