The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gearing up for their Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans and people are still bent out of shape with how the offensive line is st up for the regular season.
I understand why people are less than excited for the play up front. They haven’t shown much in recent memories and with a rookie quarterback in Jameis Winston, many expect things to go south fast.
But not Bucs’ offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter. He has a lot of faith in the line.
“The linemen we got, those are the linemen we got. Shoot I think all five are going to the Pro Bowl. How it shakes out, it shakes out. It doesn’t do you any good as a coach to lament over what we do and we don’t have. A coach’s job is to take the guys we got at every position and figure out how to give us a chance to win on Sunday.”
Fortunately for Tampa Bay, the play from the offensive line should be improved. The regular season doesn’t appear to have very many favorable matchups on paper but the coaches are optimistic and so are the players. At some point each year, that has to mean something.
Let’s hope that’s the case in 2015.
