Ok, so this isn't the free agent signing you were hoping for. The Bucs lone free agent signing, other than Doug Martin, on the first official day of free agency was former Seahawks OG JR Sweezy.
Sweezy, 26, spent his first 4 NFL seasons with the Seahawks, and started 46 of the last 48 games. Known as a physical guard with a tough mentality, Sweezy has even been referenced by some, who have gone against him, as an enforcer.
That was a tweet by former Rams DE Chris Long on the Bucs' new offensive guard.
Sweezy and Ali Marpet will be the Bucs' guards for the foreseeable future. The question is which one of them will play left guard as both have primarily been right guards.
It was initially assumed that Kevin Pamphile would take over for Mankins at left guard, but now Pamphile is still available in jumbo packages, and might just be the Bucs' future right tackle if he continues to develop.
