Jason Licht has made it clear that Mike Glennon is here to stay as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup Quarterback.
He needs to change his mind.
The 2016 NFL Draft is loaded with Defensive Lineman and Defensive Backs all the way through the first 3 rounds. Trading Glennon for a 2nd round pick would be a great move by Licht.
I understand how valuable it is to have a capable backup in this league, but right now the Bucs are building to be a contender, and Mike Glennon is not going to be under center when we are going on a Super Bowl run. Factor in that Glennon is in the final year of his contract, and he might not be with the Bucs beyond next season anyways.
The Denver Broncos lost Brock Osweiler today in Free Agency. This leaves them with a huge void at QB. John Elway stressed today that he only wants players on his team that want to be there, and believe me, Mike Glennon would love to be the starting QB for the Denver Broncos.
Depending on what way the Bucs go with their first selection, whether a Defensive Lineman or Cornerback, there is still plenty of talent in the second round at both positions. With trading Glennon, we could be looking at names such as Mackensie Alexander, Kevin Dodd, Jalen Mills, Jeremy Cash, Vonn Bell, Chris Jones, Bronson Kaufusi, and the list goes on and on.
You're telling me that you would rather have a backup quarterback over a possible combination of 2 of these players? Dirk Koetter would be able to plug an immediate starter from a Glennon trade.
Mr. Licht, please trade Mike Glennon and give us the picks we need to get the Buccaneers back in the Playoffs.
