Mike Glennon Trade Rumors Are A Good Problem To Have

We Still Don't Know Where Mike Glennon Will Start The Season

Remember when Ryan Mallett was a thing?

Well, now Mike Glennon is the highly coveted back up quarterback, loved dearly by the rumor mills and media. Hey, it’s a slow part of the year. I’m not mad at you.

How long until the draft?

Mike Glennon is the MVP of the offseaon. I think he’s mentioned more than Johnny Manziel at this point.  The Jets are the latest team to be linked to Glennon, although I believe they will lock down Ryan Fitzpatrick when both sides realize they don’t have a better option.

Bucs GM Jason Licht was asked again about the future of Mike Glennon:

"At some point we're going to make a decision whether or not we're going to keep him," Licht said. "And when I say keep him, keep him now, try to keep him long-term, extend him for a couple years. Having a backup quarterback that we think has starting ability is a huge asset for us."

If I told you during the season that Mike Glennon would dominate offseason talk, you would think something tragic happened to Jamies Winston. I know the idea is to trade Glennon, get a decent pick in return, draft a building block for the next few years, and have Ryan Griffin slide into the back up role. The reality is that the Bucs might value Glennon just a shade bit more than someone is willing to pay. Having two starting caliber quarterbacks on a roster is a great problem to have. It’s a cold and lonely world for teams that don’t have one.

The chances of the Bucs dealing Glennon are slim at this point, and I’m pleased about that possibility. I am not ready to stop viewing those Bill Currie Ford billboards around town with Mike Glennon’s dome all over them. They are making Tampa Bay great again! Wait, are they even up anymore?
