As soon as the franchise tag was rescinded from Panthers' CB Josh Norman on Wednesday, most teams' fans around the NFL started envisioning the star cornerback on their team. For Bucs' fans, it was no different.
While it may still seem like a pipe dream for the Bucs to even have a chance at the star corner from their division rival, the Bucs wasted zero time in touching base with Norman's camp.
Josh Norman is likely looking for a pay day to exceed Janoris Jenkins' most recent contract with the Giants. Most assumptions place Norman receiving a deal in the range of $14m per season, which would have him lead the league for cornerbacks.
Currently, the Buccaneers have abour $14.5m in salary cap space, but they also have another $7m tied up in CB Alterraun Verner that can be voided at any time.
The draft is one week away.
