Lavonte David on Track for Stardom in 2016

Lavonte David is a very good player, but could he be on track for stardom in 2016?

It's no secret that Bucs linebacker Lavonte David is one of the best in the league at what he does. David has proven season after season that he is an absolutely dominating presence on the field, where he stays occupied racking up astronomical amounts of tackles. In 2015, David had 85 solo tackles and 62 assists, three interceptions and three sacks, and came up huge for the Bucs at times when they needed him the most.
Here's David putting the nail in the coffin against the Falcons last year with a clutch interception of Matt Ryan. This is arguably his most memorable play of 2015 because it came at a time when the Bucs were still vying hard for a playoff spot, and also remains a textbook exhibit of David's keen quarterback-reading ability. The intercepted pass, intended for Julio Jones essentially sealed the game for Tampa, and shows how dangerous David can be to opposing offenses when he jumps routes.
Perhaps the most exciting thing regarding David entering 2016 is what is his continued growth will be next to middle linebacker Kwon Alexander, who stole the show in his rookie season last year. Both linebackers show a unique aptitude for forcing turnovers, getting sacks and being reliable tacklers, three things crucial to the position of LB, and they should only make each other better as time elapses. There's not a better mentor out there for young Alexander than David, whose wealth of experience in the league and immense talent can be a great reservoir for Alexander to draw from.
In short, look for Lavonte David to have another big year for Tampa in 2016. Numbers wise, he doesn't seem to be regressing at all as he enters his fifth year in the league, and with solid pieces of the Bucs' linebacker equation beginning to emerge around him, the sky's the limit. David's education of the younger guys coming in to play LB will also be crucial in getting Tampa defense as a whole to where it needs to be, as he plays alongside a newly-retooled roster. Being one of the best in the business currently, he stands as ready as ever to take the Bucs to new heights in 2016.
