BucMag.com Bucs MVP: CB Ronde Barber

November 11 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Ronde Barber snuffed out two potential Detroit scoring drives with a pair of diving interceptions inside the Bucs' red zone. For his efforts, Barber is this week's BucMag.com Bucs MVP.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Ronde Barber gets a slim nod over punt returner Karl Williams for this week's BucMag.com Bucs MVP. Barber set a new career best when he picked off two passes against the Detroit Lions in the Bucs' 20-17 win. Barber also had seven tackles and four passes defensed, which tied a career high.

Barber was everywhere for the Bucs, snaring his first interception on the Tampa Bay 19 when he stepped in front of Lions receiver Larry Parker on third-and-6. His second pick came in the fourth quarter when he dove and picked off a pass intended for Bert Emanuel at the Bucs' 10.

Barber was featured on an earlier cover of Buccaneer Magazine where we brought up the fact that he might be the only player on defense making big plays. That has changed in recent weeks as the Bucs turnovers have begun to mount, but Barber's five interceptions lead the club.

Barber almost score his first touchdown on the season when he returned a fumble by Lions FB Corey Schlesinger 39 yards to the end zone. But after reviewing the play, the ref overturned the call and awarded the ball back to the Lions, robbing Barber of his touchdown.
