Bucs-Bears Preview

November 16 – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers can gain ground in the NFC Central Division with a win over the first place Chicago Bears this Sunday. The Pewter Pirates have won their last five home games against the Bears and cannot afford to drop another at home to a division rival. Buccaneer Magazine has the Bucs-Bears preview.

LAST WEEK: The Chicago Bears lost at home to the Green Bay Packers, 20-12.

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers escaped Detroit with a 20-17 win over the Lions.

LAST SEASON The Chicago Bears finished in last place of the NFC Central Division with a 5-11 record in 2000.

THE LAST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET: Nov. 19, 2000: The Chicago Bears avenged a 41-0 loss to the Bucs from earlier in the year by upsetting Tampa Bay in Soldier Field, 13-10. The loss dropped the Bucs to 0-18 in games played in temperatures under 40 degrees. Bears S Tony Parrish returned a QB Shaun King interception 38-yards for a touchdown just before the end of the first half. Chicago K Paul Edinger kicked a 48-yard field goal in the beginning of the fourth quarter, which proved to be the game-winner.

BUCS-BEARS SERIES: Chicago leads the all-time series with the Buccaneers, 31-15, but Tampa Bay has won seven of the last nine games, including five straight at home.
