Wednesday Update - Upgrade On The Defensive Line

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that they have signed DE Lamar King. In addition, Tampa Bay released DT Delbert Cowsette.

King spent his first five NFL seasons (1999-2003) with the Seattle Seahawks. A first-round draft pick (22nd overall) of the Seahawks in 1999, King has played in 57 career games with 37 starts. He has totaled 125 career tackles, 12 sacks, 10 passes defensed and one fumble recovery.

King played in nine regular season games with three starts and one postseason contest for the Seahawks in 2003. He finished with 16 tackles, three sacks and one pass defensed last season. In 2000, King recorded career highs in starts (14), tackles (48), sacks (6) and passes defensed (3).

Cowsette, a third-year pro, originally signed with the Buccaneers as a free agent on January 14.
