Gruber, who signed as an undrafted free agent with Tampa on April 23, 2001, reached an injury settlement with the Bucs and was released on Aug. 29.
Most of Tampa Bay's practice squad moves have been made because of injuries this season, but signing of Gruber appears to be an exception. Because the Vanderbilt graduate was released with an injury settlement at the end of the preseason, he was not eligible to re-sign with the Buccaneers until Nov. 20. Gruber could have signed with any of the other 30 NFL teams before Nov. 20, but he elected to rejoin Tampa Bay.
McCaslin was signed to Tampa Bay's practice squad on Nov. 14 due to a wrath of minor injuries to the Bucs linebacking corps. McCaslin entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2000.
