Bucs Sign TE Mike Roberg to 53-Man Roster

December 4 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Dave Moore sustained a minor hip injury in Sunday's game against Cincinnati, and his status remains uncertain for this Sunday's game against Detroit. On Tuesday, Tampa Bay decided to take out an insurance policy on Moore by signing Bucs rookie TE Mike Roberg to their 53-man roster. To make room for Roberg on their active roster, the Bucs waived CB Corey Ivy. But Ivy cleared waivers and was signed to the team's five-man practice squad.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Dave Moore may or may not play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. But it does look like rookie TE Mike Roberg will play in his first professional football game on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.

Roberg, who has spent the entire regular season on Tampa Bay's five-man practice squad, signed a two-year contract on Tuesday and is now on the Bucs' 53-man active roster.

Roberg (6-4, 263) entered the National Football League as a seventh-round draft choice of the Carolina Panthers out of the University of Idaho. Roberg was released by Carolina in August and was picked up two days later by Tampa Bay. The Bucs have made several practice squad moves in the past three months, but Roberg was the only player to remain on the squad throughout all of them.

At Idaho, Roberg was a first-team all conference player, and he hauled in 64 passes for 772 yards and 10 touchdowns in three seasons for the Vandals.

To make room for Roberg on their 53-man active roster, the Bucs waived CB Corey Ivy. But Ivy cleared waivers and was signed to Tampa Bay's five-man practice squad.
