Buc Mag Bucs MVP: DE Simeon Rice

December 16 - Nothing seemed to go right for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their devastating 27-3 loss to the Bears at Chicago - except for the pass rushing of defensive end Simeon Rice. Rice had a game-high two sacks and is this week's BucMag.com Bucs MVP.

In a game when truly no Buccaneer shined in a dreadful 27-3 loss to Chicago, defensive end Simeon Rice probably played the best. Rice, last week's Buccaneer Magazine cover boy, had two sacks of Bears quarterback Jim Miller and finished with three tackles. This was his second two-sack game of the year. For his efforts, Rice is this week's BucMag.com's Bucs MVP.

Rice, who was playing in front of friends and family in his hometown of Chicago, had a big game against Bears left tackle Blake Brockermeyer and came away with several pressures and two sacks, which pushed his season total to eight.

Rice's eight sacks make him the team leader. Of his eight quarterback takedowns this season, three of them have come against the Bears. His first sack on third-and-4 at the Buccaneers 5 prompted the Bears to settle for a field goal.

The Bears did run rookie running back Anthony Thomas at Rice and the right side of the Bucs defensive line with great regularity, but Rice actually held up pretty well against the run, as he has all season long to de-bunk the myth that he was weak against the run.
