Buc Mag Bucs MVP: CB Ronde Barber

December 23 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Ronde Barber set a team record with three interceptions in one game, returning the last one 37 yards for a touchdown. Barber now has nine interceptions on the year, which ties him with Cedric Brown (1981) for the franchise single-season record.

BucMag.com Bucs MVP of the game? Take your pick. Running back Aaron Stecker took the opening kickoff back 86 yards, which was the longest in team history, to kickstart the Bucs' 48-21 drubbing of the Saints. Tailback Mike Alstott came through with 101 bone-rattling rushing yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Brad Johnson threw three TD passes - his most ever in Tampa Bay. Martin Gramatica, who tied a team record with four field goals. Or how about safety John Lynch, who had five tackles, recovered an onsides kick and actually kicked off twice after Gramatica pulled a hamstring? All tremendous performances and worthy of recognition.

But we'll award this week's BucMag.com Bucs MVP award to cornerback Ronde Barber, who set a team record with three interceptions in one game, returning the last one 37 yards for a touchdown. Barber now has nine interceptions on the year, which ties him with Cedric Brown (1981) for the franchise single-season record.

Barber also played the run exceptionally well against New Orleans and finished with three tackles to go along with his three passes defensed.
