Buc Mag Bucs MVP: LB Derrick Brooks

December 28 - Tampa Bay Pro Bowl linebacker Derrick Brooks returned an Ravens QB Elvis Grbac interception 55 yards down to the 1-yard line in the second quarter to set up a Brad Johnson touchdown plunge. That gave the Bucs a 16-7 lead and for his efforts, Brooks is this week's BucMag.com Bucs MVP of the game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense wanted to match the effort and performance of Baltimore's world-renowned defense. Actually, they outshined the Ravens defense, finishing with five sacks and two interceptions, including a huge pick by Tampa Bay Pro Bowl linebacker Derrick Brooks, who returned the ball 55 yards down to the 1-yard line to set up a Brad Johnson touchdown plunge. That gave the Bucs a 16-7 lead. For his efforts, Brooks is this week's BucMag.com Bucs MVP of the game.

Brooks, who has fought through a painful foot injury almost the entire season, came through with several big plays after not making many key plays over the past several games. Brooks finished with a game-high 15 tackles against the Ravens, edging Ray Lewis by one.

On one of the biggest plays of the game following of a QB Elvis Grbac sack by Warren Sapp and Anthony McFarland, Brooks tackled Ravens wide receiver Qadry Ismail a couple of yards shy of a first down on fourth-and-10 on Baltimore's final drive.

Brooks was everywhere against Baltimore and turned in one of his best performances of the year in this key game.
