Yoder blocked a Ravens P Kyle Richardson punt in the second quarter, which led to a Bucs field goal. Yoder also drew a holding penalty on another Baltimore punt. Yoder has had an impressive season on special teams, where he has recorded 11 tackles and one touchdown off a blocked punt against the Bengals.
"This means a lot to me," said Yoder. "I've worked hard and showed up for our special teams unit. It's a big part of our team and I just came up with a big play to help us win the game."
Yoder could have easily blocked at least one more of Richardson's punts on Saturday night, but the Ravens held him. Although Baltimore prevented another block, they were penalized for holding.
"After the first one, I told Coach Joe I can get this guy," said Yoder. "I worked him all night and he got a couple of penalties called on him, too. If he hadn't grabbed me on a couple of those, I might have blocked another one."
Brooks' recorded a team-high 20 tackles (12 solo), defended two passes and intercepted a Ravens QB Elvis Grbac pass and returned it 53-yards to set up QB Brad Johnson's 1-yard touchdown. Tampa Bay downed Baltimore, 22-10.
While this award is Yoder's first of his career, Brooks' honor makes this player of the week award the third of his career. Six Buccaneers have now won six player of the week awards this season.
