Bucs-Jags Preseason Game Flip-Flopped, Again

May 17 – UPDATED: Just one day after Tampa Bay announced that the date and time for the Pewter Pirates' preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at ALLTEL Stadium had changed to Saturday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m., Jacksonville decided to change the game back to the originally scheduled date, which was Friday, Aug. 16 at 7:00 p.m. In other news, the Bucs will hold the third annual "Bucs on the Beach" on Saturday, May 18 at Clearwater Beach.

Just one day after Tampa Bay's entire 2002 schedule had been finalized with the date and time announced for the Bucs-Jags Week 2 preseason game, Jacksonville decided to flip-flop the date, again.

The Bucs and Jags will meet in Week 2 of the preseason at ALLTEL Stadium on Friday, Aug. 16 at 7:00 p.m., which is the date the Bucs were originally scheduled to clash with their in-state rival. Jacksonville had been trying to accomodate the Bucs by moving the game to Saturday since Tampa Bay will host their other in-state rival - the Miami Dolphins - on Monday night that week, they felt the best solution was to return the game back to its originally scheduled date and time.

In other news, the Buccaneers have teamed up with Checkers Restaurants to hold the third annual "Bucs on the Beach" Saturday, May 18 at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort on Clearwater Beach. The charity beach volleyball tournament will feature appearances by Bucs players, coaches and cheerleaders. Both players and coaches will participate in Q&A sessions with the crowd and they will distribute Checkers coupons.

Tight ends Marco Battaglia and Todd Yoder, kicker Martin Gramatica, free safety Dexter Jackson, quarterbacks Rob Johnson and Shaun King, cornerback Dwight Smith, wide receiver Joe Jurevicius, running back Aaron Stecker and middle linebacker Nate Webster are among the Pewter Pirates who will be participating in this Saturday's charity event.

Admission to the event, which starts at 8:30 a.m., is free and spectators are encouraged to attend and meet some of the Bucs' players on hand. Tickets will be sold for $5.00 each on-site for a raffle and four interactive games with the players. Autographs will be permitted for game participants.

All proceeds generated through Bucs on the Beach will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Glazer Family Foundation.
