There will not be any significant changes to the publication other than the changing of the name. Subscribers will not experience interrupted service, and readers will continue to receive the same great analysis, commentary and coverage on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when the publication was known as Buccaneer Magazine.
Here's the answers to some frequently asked questions:
Why did you change the name from Buccaneer Magazine to Pewter Report?
"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers approached us and asked us to consider a name change that would clearly reflect our status as independent from the team. We took the idea and ran with it. With the name Pewter Report, we now have full control in how we market and advertise our publication to increase the awareness level about it. BucMag.com will now be known as PewterReport.com."
Why did the Buccaneers ask you to change the name?
"We have a great relationship with the Buccaneers, and had a sublicensing agreement for use of the name and the logo. There was some confusion over whether Buccaneer Magazine was published by the Bucs, but in fact it has always been an independent, objective source of news on the Buccaneers. We agreed that a name change would be mutually beneficial."
Why did you choose the name Pewter Report?
"Pewter is unique to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. No other team has pewter as one of its colors. Our coverage of the Buccaneers is rather unique in that we focus on inside information and offer expert analysis and commentary for the loyal Tampa Bay fans. That's why we came up with the name Pewter Report and the slogan 'The source for inside news on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.'
"We understand the challenge of branding the name Pewter Report, but are now afforded many different avenues to promote the publication. Under our licensing agreement with the team, we didn't have as many freedoms to promote and publicize our publication. Given the fact that the Buccaneers have been to the playoffs in four out of the last five years and prospects for success have never been greater, this is the ideal climate for Buccaneer Magazine to be reborn as Pewter Report."
