Bucs News and Notes

June 7 - One of the top free agent wide receivers that visited Tampa Bay earlier in the week reached an agreement on a contract Friday, but it wasn't with the Buccaneers. As expected, WR Derrick Alexander reached an agreement with the Minnesota Vikings and will reportedly sign a three-year contract worth just over $5 million. In other news, the Buccaneers will hold their annual Bank of America FanFest on Saturday, June 8 at Raymond James Stadium.

Alexander No Longer Available:
Free agent wide receiver Derrick Alexander visited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday, but as expected, he agreed to terms with the Minnesota Vikings on Friday. According to ESPN, Alexander will sign a three-year deal worth $5.1 million.

Tampa Bay was interested in Alexander, but their primary target in the post-June 1 free agent wave was and still is WR Keenan McCardell. Some of the Bucs' players wined and dined McCardell on Wednesday night and the team rolled out the red carpet for him at the Bucs' practice at Ray-Jay on Thursday.

With Alexander out of the mix, Kansas City and Tampa Bay are left as the frontrunners for McCardell. The former Jacksonville Jaguar had an extended visit with the Chiefs earlier in the week.

The Buccaneers will hold their annual Bank of America FanFest on Saturday, June 8 at Raymond James Stadium. The event is free and open to the public.
