Bucs Sign Rookie RB Stephens To Contract

July 26 - Tampa Bay signed fourth-round draft selection running back Travis Stephens to a four-year contract on Friday. Stephens and the rest of his Buccaneer teammates will report to training camp on July 28.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed rookie running back Travis Stephens to a four-year contract on Friday. The Bucs selected Stephens in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft.

The Bucs plan to use Stephens (5-foot-8, 191) as as a third-down and situational-type back. Stephens displayed impressive tackle-breaking ability as the featured runner for the Volunteers in 2001. Stephens, who set a Tennessee single-season record for rushing yards with 1,464 yards and 10 TDs last year.

The Bucs have signed seven of its eight draft picks. Tampa Bay expects to have TE Tracey Wistrom -- the only unsigned draft pick -- under contract when the team reports to training camp on July 28.
