Pewter Report MVP: Frank Murphy

August 12 - Pewter Report has selected Buccaneers kick returner/wide receiver Frank Murphy as the Pewter Player of the Game for his 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.

It only took one play for the Pewter Report staff to deem Tampa Bay kick returner Frank Murphy as the Pewter Player of the Game, and give the Bucs a lead they would not relinquish with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Murphy fielded Olindo Mare's opening kickoff on the first hop at the Bucs' 5-yard and ran straight into the middle of the oncoming rush before following a key block by tight end Marco Battaglia and quickly cutting to the right. Murphy picked up a great block down the right sidelines with running back Aaron Stecker leading the way.

Murphy's 95-yard kickoff return to open the game was the Bucs' fifth kickoff return TD in the preseason. Tampa Bay's last kickoff return for a touchdown in the preseason was Yo Murphy's 93-yarder vs. New England on August 28, 1999.
