The Jaguars lost its preseason opener for the first time in four years when they were downed by the Atlanta Falcons, 23-13 last Friday evening in the Georgia Dome.
The Buccaneers opened up the 2002 preseason at home and defeated the visiting Miami Dolphins, 14-10, on Monday night.
LAST SEASON: The Jacksonville Jaguars finished the 2001 regular season with a 6-10 record and tied for fifth place in the AFC Central Division. The Jaguars did not make the playoffs.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished the 2001 regular season with a 9-7 record and in third place in the NFC Central Division. The hometown Philadelphia Eagles eliminated the Buccaneers in the first round of the playoffs, 31-9.
THE LAST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET: The Bucs and Jags met at ALLTEL Stadium on November 15, 1998. The Jaguars defeated the visiting Bucs, 29-24.
BUCS-JAGUARS SERIES: The Bucs are 1-1 all-time vs. the Jaguars during the regular season. This will be the first time the Bucs and Jaguars have played each other during the preseason.
