Pewter Report MVP: K Martin Gramatica

August 16 - Pewter Report has selected Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Martin Gramatica as the Pewter Report MVP of Friday night's Bucs-Jaguars game. Gramatica drilled two field goals for the Bucs, including a 50-yarder just before the end of the first half.

There were several worthy candidates for this week's Pewter Report Pewter Player of the Game, but kicker Martin Gramatica gets the nod after going 2-for-2 in Tampa Bay's 20-0 shutout win over Jacksonville.

Gramatica provided eight of the Bucs' 20 points, including six points on two field goals from 28 and 50 yards out. Gramatica missed his lone field goal attempt earlier in the week against Miami, which was a makeable 34-yard attempt.

But Gramatica got his confidence up after his perfect performance against the Jaguars, and seems to be in a comfort zone with his new snapper, Mike Solwold, and his new holder, punter Tom Tupa. However, kicker Rob Hart handled all kickoffs against Jacksonville, just as he did against Miami -- which is a sign that Gramatica is still recovering from an offseason hamstring injury.
