Bucs Post-Game Quotes

August 24 - The Washington Redskins thumped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers inside Raymond James Stadium on Saturday night, 40-10. Read what the Bucs players had to say about their embarrassing defeat from their locker room inside Ray-Jay.

BUCS TIGHT END KEN DILGER ON WHAT BUCS HEAD COACH JON GRUDEN TOLD THE TEAM AFTER THE GAME:
"He told us we got what we deserved. We had seven turnovers and you're not going to beat anybody (with those mistakes). You've got to protect the ball and make good decisions. If you don't, you're going to get beat pretty badly in this league."

DILGER ON THE BUCS' PASS PROTECTION:
"Our pass protection is our weakest link right now. You've got five new guys who are trying to come together. But we'll get that thing worked out. Coach Muir will get us straightened out."

BUCS CB RONDE BARBER ON THE TEAM'S LOSS TO WASHINGTON:
"It's pretty frustrating. We didn't execute the way we wanted to. We'll go back and look at it and make our corrections, and get ready for Houston."

BUCS QB BRAD JOHNSON ON THE LOSS TO WASHINGTON:
"They have a very good football team. I don't think they did anything out of the ordinary. In the first half, we had some bad field position. We had some drives there and made some first downs. I had a couple of turnovers that took the momentum away from us. The penalties hurt us, too. We put ourselves in a lot of third-and-long situations. We had a lot of missed assignments, a lot of penalties and a lot of turnovers tonight. That's what it really came down to."

QB BRAD JOHNSON ON THROWING HIS FIRST TOUCHDOWN OF THE PRESEASON:
"It was nice to see us complete a drive. We ran some plays on that particular drive that we wanted to get on film to see ourselves. I thought like we moved the ball extremely well in preseason. That ended up being a big play for us in getting the touchdown to Keenan (McCardell)."

BUCS LB DERRICK BROOKS ON THE BUCS' SLOPPY PLAY THROUGHOUT THE WEEK AND AGAINST WASHINGTON:
"He (Gruden) mentioned that (didn't have a good practice) and we as players mentioned we didn't have a good practice on Thursday. Some of those things probably carried over to today. But the things we need to get corrected are correctable and we'll do it and we look forward to getting started against Houston."
