Bucs DE Jones Out 4-6 Weeks

August 27 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Marcus Jones underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a lateral meniscus in his left knee on Monday, which will keep him sidelined at least four to six weeks. Bucs veteran backup DE Greg Spires will start in place of Jones at the left end position. In other news, former Bucs right tackle Jerry Wunsch signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday.

Buccaneers starting left defensive end Marcus Jones will be sidelined at least four to six weeks. He underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a lateral meniscus in his left knee on Monday. While the surgery was deemed successful, Jones is expected to be out a while.

Jones injured his knee toward the end of the first quarter of Tampa Bay's 40-10 loss to Washington on Saturday night.

Bucs backup defensive end Greg Spires, who the team signed as a free agent during the offseason, will start in place of Jones. Spires received extended playing time throughout the offseason and training camp while Jones recovered from offseason shoulder surgery.

In other news, former Bucs right tackle Jerry Wunsch signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday. The deal was worth about $550,000.
