Bucs News And Notes: Friday

September 6 – PewterReport.com has the latest news on the Buccaneers' injury front. Three Tampa Bay players are in the infirmary, including right guard Cosey Coleman, who probably won't play against the Saints. Find out which team is in better shape heading into Sunday's Bucs-Saints game at Raymond James Stadium. In other news, Bucs head coach Jon Gruden announced Friday that Cornell Green will start at right tackle against the Saints in place of Kenyatta Walker.

Tampa Bay right tackle Cornell Green practiced at right tackle with the first-team offense all week, and on Friday, Bucs head coach Jon Gruden announced Green would start against New Orleans on Sunday.

"Right now we're starting Cornell Green at right tackle," Gruden said earlier in the week. "We're going to continue to work with Kenyatta. Nobody is giving up on him. We just want to make sure he gets himself ready to play the right way and when he does, he'll play. But at this time, Cornell Green gives us the best chance to win."

Some thought Walker, who committed several penalties and struggled throughout preseason, was benched by Gruden in order to light a fire under the second-year tackle. But Walker wasn't able to unseat Green during practice this week and could remain sidelined for a while if the third-year veteran out of the University of Central Florida fares well in his first start in the National Football League.

In other news, Buccaneers right guard Cosey Coleman, who still is listed as questionable for Sunday's game, will likely be downgraded to doubtful. Coleman suffered a knee injury during pre-game warm-ups on Aug. 12 and returned to practice this week. But chances are he won't play against the Saints. Tampa Bay backup C/G Todd Washington will start in place of Coleman.

Bucs defensive tackle Buck Gurley, who has been sidelined with an ankle sprain, will likely be downgraded to doubtful as well.

Bucs fullback Jameel Cook will, however, likely be ready to go on Sunday.

PewterReport.com has compiled a list of Tampa Bay's walking wounded.
