Pewter Report MVP: Derrick Brooks

September 23 - For the second week in a row, Tampa Bay linebacker Derrick Brooks came up with a big play down the stretch for the Buccaneers, which is why Pewter Report selected Brooks as this week's Pewter Player of the Game. He knocked Rams RB Marshall Faulk out of the game in the first half and intercepted a pass and returned it 39 yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

For the second week in a row, Tampa Bay linebacker Derrick Brooks came up with a big play down the stretch for the Buccaneers. Last week, he raced 97 yards for a touchdown on an interception against Baltimore to preserve a shutout. This week against St. Louis, Brooks clinched the Bucs' 26-14 win over the Rams with a 39-yard interception return for a touchdown to earn the Pewter Player of the Game.

Brooks had missed the entire fourth quarter due to a hamstring injury, but was forced to enter the game when linebacker Al Singleton was woozy from a blow to the head. In Brooks' only play in the fourth quarter he stepped in front of Rams tailback Lamar Gordon and picked off Kurt Warner's pass.

Brooks also had six tackles and two passes defensed against the Rams. He leads the Bucs with three interceptions.
