Pewter Report MVP: QB Brad Johnson

September 29 - With the Cincinnati Bengals stuffing the run with a myriad of blitzes, Tampa Bay quarterback was left to shoulder the load for the Bucs offense. Johnson delivered with three touchdown passes, and had racked up 224 yards passing by halftime to earn this week's Pewter Report MVP in the Bucs' 35-7 win over the Bengals.

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers desperately needing to put touchdowns on the board instead of field goals to get their new offense cranked up, QB Brad Johnson delivered and is the Pewter Player of the Game, finishing 19-of-30 for 277 yards with three TDs and two INTs.

Johnson used the pump fake effectively, came out firing and shook off an early pick which went for a Cincinnati touchdown, by hitting TE Rickey Dudley for a 35-yard TD and WR Keenan McCardell for a 65-yard scoring strike in the first half to build a 14-7 lead. At halftime, Johnson was 15-of-22 for 224 yards.

Johnson had another interception in the second half off of a deflection, but also threw a 22-yard TD pass to TE Ken Dilger. In all, Johnson went downfield with regularity and had four passing plays beyond 20 yards in the win.
