Backup linebacker and special teams performer Antoine Cash is out for the season with a knee injury, said Tampa Bay head coach Jon Gruden after practice on Monday.
Tampa Bay placed Cash on injured reserve, the third player to be moved to IR this preseason.
Cash was hurt in the first quarter of Saturday's preseason loss to Jacksonville. He suffered the knee injury during kickoff coverage after the Buccaneers took a 7-0 lead.
Cash, a second-year player out of Southern Miss, emerged as one of the Bucs' top special teams performers a year ago, playing 16 games and registering 17 tackles.
Cash was not expected to challenge for a starting job, but he was considered valuable depth at the linebacker position and likely would have made the 53-man roster.
Also, Gruden announced that linebacker Sam Olajubutu was placed on IR — making him the fourth Buc to be moved to IR — and that guard Jeb Terry had a sprained right ankle and will not play on Saturday. Terry is in a fight for one of the final roster spots on offensive line.
Olajubutu suffered an Achilles tendon injury during pre-game warmups.
