Jon Gruden Transcript: Sept. 3

Here is the complete transcript from Jon Gruden's post-practice press conference on Monday, Sept. 3:

Injury-wise, anything to report, Jon?

No, nothing new. Patrick Chukwurah is that one that, it looks like he'll be out of the game. Everyone else looks status quo, ready to go.

Jon, can you talk about the new additions you made yesterday?

Taye Biddle, a wide receiver, and the guy can run, really run. He has some return ability and a guy that has rare speed. We're excited to work with him. You can never have enough of that. Joey Galloway gives us great speed, (David) Boston gives us speed and now Taye Biddle gives us speed. Anthony Madison is a good corner. He's an interesting guy. Good special teams player. He was in a logjam (in Pittsburgh), obviously, and our scouts have done a good job bringing him to us. So Anthony Madison will bolster our cornerback group and be a key contributor on special teams.

Jon, can you speak about keeping Kenneth Darby and Marcus Hamilton, a couple of your draft picks, on the practice squad this year?

Yeah, you know Darby had a real good preseason, especially running the ball. He has a ways to in some other areas. But I think Ken Darby is, I think, a good back. We're happy to have him back. Hamilton is a guy that had his moments in training camp. He had four or five really good days. He took a step back, like a lot of good, young guys do on other days. But he has some promise and playmaking ability and to keep him here is good for him and good for us.

What about overall? Do you think you're ready for Seattle?

I think we are ready. We're a whole new football team, if you look at it. We have a new quarterback, we're going to have a new opening day starter at right tackle (Jeremy Trueblood), right guard (Davin Joseph), left guard (Arron Sears), fullback (Michael Pittman), possibly a new starting flanker. We'll be using news guys at tight end. Defensively we've added a lot of different players, so we've put a lot of time and work in and I believe we have a pretty good football team.

Can you talk about Jerramy Stevens' situation this week? He has a court date later this week. Can you talk about what impact that might have?

We've had a couple of bonus days to get ready for Seattle, and Jerramy does have a court appearance. Those things are important, obviously, that you handle it with class and appropriately. He will miss a couple of days. We expect him to be ready to go (for Sunday). We'll support him in this matter and we expect the judicial system to do the right thing. He'll miss a couple of days, but we expect him to be ready to go for Seattle."
