Bucs-Browns Game Notes

October 13 - PewterReport.com has compiled a notebook full of news and notes from Tampa Bay's 17-3 win over Cleveland on Sunday.

INJURY UPDATE: Bucs nose tackle Anthony McFarland (ankle sprain) and strong safety John Lynch (knee sprain) started against the Browns despite their injuries. With 6:10 left in the first quarter, middle linebacker Shelton Quarles left the game with an injury but returned. Lynch was spelled on occasion by John Howell.

BUCS' INACTIVES: CB Tim Wansley, WR Charles Lee, QB Shaun King, FB Darian Barnes, T/G Tutan Reyes, WR Reggie Barlow, RB Travis Stephens and DE Corey Smith.

A KICK IN THE PANTS: Kicker Martin Gramatica had a rough outing against Cleveland. After making his first field goal attempt of 33 yards, Gramatica had his next attempt blocked when Cleveland CB Anthony Henry shot around TE Rickey Dudley to get the block. Gramatica drew a penalty by kicking the ball to avoid Cleveland recovering the ball and scoring. He missed his next kick and then didn't get a chance to kick on his final attempt as holder Tom Tupa was tackled after a bad snap.

QUICK HITS: The Bucs' 5-1 start matches the best start in team history. ... Tampa Bay beat Cleveland for the first time in team history. The Bucs have been 0-5 in their previous meetings. ... RB Michael Pittman's 64-yard reception, which set up the Bucs' first TD, was the third-longest by a Tampa Bay running back. The longest was a 74-yard catch-and-run by Gary Anderson against Green Bay on October 14, 1990. ... Pittman started the game with his visor on, but removed it after halftime. ... CB Ronde Barber's first quarter interception was his first of the season and the 17th of his career which ties him for fifth on the team's all-time list. ... The Bucs have recorded a sack in 50 consecutive games, which is the longest active streak in the NFL. ... RB Mike Alstott's 126 yard rushing day was the first 100-yard rushing day by a Buccaneer back this season. Tampa Bay rushed for a season-high 186 yards against the Browns. ... Karl Williams had punt returns of 43 and 42 yards against Cleveland. ... The Bucs' defense has not allowed a TD in the last three games. ... For the first time this season, the Bucs failed to score 20 points or more in a game.
