Bucs-Panthers Game Notes

November 17 - PewterReport.com has compiled a notebook with news and notes from Tampa Bay's 23-10 win over Carolina on Sunday.

INJURY UPDATE: Center Jeff Christy started the game despite undergoing minor knee surgery during the offseason. Defensive tackle Warren Sapp played despite back spasms, but was limited in the second half. Wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson suffered bruised ribs in the game, but continued. Wide receivers Keenan McCardell and Joe Jurevicius returned to action after missing the Minnesota game.

BUCS' INACTIVES: FB Darian Barnes, CB Tim Wansley, DT Anthony McFarland, WR Charles Lee, WR Reggie Barlow, DE Corey Smith and QB Shaun King.

GR-EIGHT START: With Tampa Bay's 23-10 win over Carolina, the team is 8-2 for the first time in team history and is now in sole possession of first place in the NFC South due to New Orleans' loss to Atlanta.

QUICK HITS: Bucs defensive end Greg Spires recorded a sack on Carolina QB Rodney Peete, which extended Tampa Bay's consecutive sack streak to 54 games. The last time the Bucs failed to notch at least one sack was against Minnesota on October 3, 1999. ... With his one-yard scoring pass to WR Keyshawn Johnson in the second quarter, QB Brad Johnson moved into a tie with teammate QB Shaun King for sixth place in club history in touchdown passes with 25. ... Tampa Bay cornerback Brian Kelly recorded an interception against Carolina, which was his fourth of the season and ties LB Derrick Brooks for the team lead. His four picks is also a new season high. ... The Bucs are now 11-3 in the month of November since 1999. ... Game conditions were breezy and cold.
