Bucs move Williams to PUP, make moves

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made five roster moves to get down to the 75 man roster limit, including moving RB Carnell Williams to the reserve physically unable to perform list. The Bucs also cut four players.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ensured that RB Carnell Williams will not be available until at least after the sixth week of the NFL season by placing him on the reserve physically unable to perform list on Tuesday.

Williams was one of five roster moves the Buccaneers made to get down to the NFL's 75-man roster limit for the final preseason game.

Williams has worked feverishly to rehab the patellar tendon in his right knee, which he tore last year against Carolina. By moving him to reserve PUP, the Bucs ensured that Williams will have a full year to recover from the injury.

By moving Williams to PUP, he will not count against Tampa Bay's 53-man roster. But he will not be available to be activated until after at least the sixth week of the NFL season.

The Buccaneers also released WR Paris Warren, LB Antoine Cash, S Donte Nicholson and CB Sammy Davis.
