"To be honest, I can't sit back and relish it right now," Rice said of the award Wednesday. "It is one of those things I put on the shelf and look back. It's a situation when I look back in hindsight, I will say wow, I did some things. But right now I am in the fight of my life. There is a much bigger picture. It's about championships."
Rice, who currently leads the league in sacks with 11.5, recorded six sacks, 17 tackles, two forced fumbles and a pass defensed during Tampa Bay's 3-0 outing in November.
Rice has recorded nine sacks in his last five games and has posted four straight two-sack games, which tied a NFL single-season record. Rice leads Bucs defensive linemen with 55 tackles, five forced fumbles and nine passes defensed through 11 games.
This is just the second time Rice has received this award, but it marks the second consecutive month that a Tampa Bay player has received the award after weakside linebacker Derrick Brooks was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month for October.
