Pewter Report MVP: Simeon Rice

December 1 - Tampa Bay right defensive end Simeon Rice recorded three sacks in the first quarter and a forced fumble, which wound up as a safety. Rice, who leads the league in sacks with 14.5, is the Pewter Player of the Game for his outstanding performance against New Orleans.

Tampa Bay wide receiver Keenan McCardell deserves extra recognition for an outstanding game against New Orleans after catching 11 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown, but this week's Pewter Player of the Game goes to defensive end Simeon Rice, who had three first quarter sacks, and a forced fumble which wound up as a safety. Rice was only slowed down by New Orleans' balanced offense as the game progressed.

Rice finished the game with five tackles in addition to the three sacks, and set an NFL record for five-straight multiple sack games. Rice has 11 sacks and five forced fumbles in the last five games, and currently leads the league in sacks with 14.5 quarterback captures. Tampa Bay's single-season sack record of 16.5 set by Warren Sapp in 2000 is in serious jeopardy with four games remaining.
