Bucs-Lions Injury Report

December 13 – Tampa Bay strong safety John Lynch was upgraded from doubtful to questionable on Friday and the team will make a game-time decision on whether not he'll play against Detroit on Sunday. PewterReport.com has the Bucs-Lions injury report.

Buccaneers starting strong safety John Lynch, who suffered a neck strain against the Falcons last Sunday and missed practice on Wednesday, practiced for the second consecutive day on Friday, which prompted the team to upgrade him from doubtful to questionable for Sunday's contest against the Lions.

"He is improving," Bucs head coach Jon Gruden said of Lynch. "He feels much better and we'll see what happens when he wakes up tomorrow."

Lynch, who's started 68 consecutive games, will be a game-time decision. If Lynch can't play, second-year backup S John Howell will start in his place. But Gruden sounded confident that Lynch would find a way to play against the Lions.

"I'm always hopeful," said Gruden. "He's like General Schwarzkopf or Tommy Franks. He's a guy we've got to have. We don't want to leave home without him. He'll be on the trip with us and we'll see how he feels on game day. He went out and worked out prior to the Cleveland Browns game when he had an injury earlier in the season (and then played). When those game day juices start pumping, sometimes you just can't say no to the captain.

"We'll hold our decision until game time, and when we have to turn in that list of inactives, then we'll do that."

In other injury news, Bucs right tackle Kenyatta Walker was added to the team's injury report on Friday with a sprained shoulder, but he's expected to play on Sunday.
