Bucs-Lions Game Notes

December 15 - PewterReport.com has compiled this notebook full of news and notes from the Bucs-Lions game.

INJURY UPDATE: Strong safety John Lynch did not play due to a neck strain. John Howell got the start in his place. Nose tackle Anthony McFarland broke his foot in the second half and has been ruled out for the season. Linebacker Nate Webster was also carted off with an undisclosed injury.

BUCS' INACTIVES: SS John Lynch, TE Casey Crawford, WR Charles Lee, WR Reggie Barlow, DE Ellis Wyms, DT DeVon Claybrooks, OT Dan Goodspeed and QB Rob Johnson.

HEART'S NOT IN IT: After only one offensive series, Detroit rookie QB Joey Harrington was forced to leave the game due to an irregular heartbeat. After getting sacked by cornerback Ronde Barber, Harrington left the stadium under his own power in an ambulance and was deemed alright once he arrived at a local hospital.

FLAG FOOTBALL: Tampa Bay's O-line did a good job opening up holes in the running game, but was shaky in pass protection. They were penalized five times, including four times in the third quarter. Left tackle Roman Oben was flagged for a false start and for holding. Right guard Cosey Coleman, who was benched briefly in favor of Todd Washington, was flagged twice in the third quarter for false starts.

QUICK HITS: Bucs CB Ronde Barber's sack was his first this season and also extended Tampa Bay's to an NFL-leading 58. ... The Bucs' 11-3 record is the best in team history and Tampa Bay's 11 wins ties the team record for most victories.
