Johnson Held Out Of Third Straight Practice

December 20 – Tampa Bay starting quarterback Brad Johnson missed practice for the third consecutive day on Friday. Bucs backup QB Shaun King took almost all of the snaps during Friday's workout as he did throughout the entire week. The Bucs will make a game-time decision on whether or not Johnson will start against the Steelers on Monday night.

It doesn't look like Tampa Bay quarterback Brad Johnson will start against Pittsburgh on Monday night, but the Buccaneers still like his chances.

Johnson, who is still listed as questionable for Monday's game with a lower back contusion, was held of practice for the third straight day on Friday and if he can't practice on Saturday, Johnson will have gone an entire week without practicing with his team.

Bucs head coach Jon Gruden said the team wouldn't know whether or not Johnson could go until game time, which is 9:00 p.m. Monday.

"We'll announce (the decision) at game time," Gruden said after Friday's practice. "We won't speculate right now. We'll see how this situation unfolds. We'll know 9 o'clock Monday whether or not he's going to be the starter.

"He felt much better yesterday. For whatever reason, he didn't feel as good today. But we're going to remain optimistic."

If Johnson can't go Monday night, backup QB Shaun King, who is 14-7 as a starter, will play in his place. King has taken the majority of the reps in practice this week.

In other injury news, Tampa Bay backup middle linebacker Nate Webster returned to practice after a two-day absence. While he's still listed as questionable for Monday night's game, the team expects Webster to play against Pittsburgh.
