Bucs-Eagles NFC Championship Game Preview

January 19 – The 13-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers will invade Veterans Stadium Sunday to play the 13-4 Philadelphia Eagles for the right to play in Super Bowl XXXVII. The Buccaneers are 0-6 on the road in the playoffs, but they'll try to get their first win on Sunday. PewterReport.com has the Bucs-Eagles preview.

LAST WEEK: The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the visiting Atlanta Falcons last Saturday, 20-6. The Eagles held Falcons QB Michael Vick to 274 yards passing. Eagles running back Duce Staley rushed for 64 yards and wide receiver James Thrash had 77 yards receiving, including a 35-yard touchdown pass from QB Donovan McNabb.

Tampa Bay downed the visiting San Francisco 49ers last Sunday, 31-6. Bucs quarterback Brad Johnson threw two touchdown passes and fullback Mike Alstott rushed for two scores of his own. Tampa Bay's defense held San Francisco's offense without a touchdown.

THE LAST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET: Tampa Bay visited Philadelphia back in Week 7 and they lost to the Eagles, 20-10. The Bucs' defense held Eagles QB Donovan McNabb to 50 percent in terms of completions and just 127 yards. But they allowed Eagles RB Duce Staley to rush for 154 yards (6.3 avg.).

BUCS-EAGLES SERIES: Tampa Bay is 3-7 all-time against Philadelphia, including 1-2 in the playoffs. The Bucs' last two seasons have ended in Veterans Stadium after the Eagles eliminated the Bucs two consecutive years in the first round of post-season.

BUCS ON THE ROAD IN THE PLAYOFFS: Tampa Bay is 3-7 all-time in the playoffs, including 0-6 in playoff games on the road.
